New Beginnings: A Song for the Survivor

This song is by JeffS, our resident composer.  Click on the link to hear it. The lyrics are printed as well so you can follow along as you listen. This is a good song to enter into the New Year with!  Thanks JeffS!
Song for the Survivor

This road has been too long
And the path was never straight
Broken down you were afflicted
By the ones you thought were safe

They spoke of your salvation
And you believed they held the key
So you walked the path they showed you
And you gave them everything

I hear your song and I know that you are weary
I see the tears and I feel how hard you’ve cried
But in the morning when this night is finally over
We’ll rejoice as we dance in Heaven’s light
And stand together at the feet of Christ

As the truth became illumined
The shadows feared the light would come
And you were scared they’d overtake you
But still you followed on

There’s a strength I see inside you
Though the devil says you’re weak
To rise against opression
And stand in Jesus victory

I hear your song and I know that you are weary
I see the tears and I feel how hard you’ve cried
But in the morning when this night is finally over
We’ll rejoice as we dance in Heaven’s light
And stand together at the feet of Christ

In the end there’s so much mystery
So much to God we never knew
But now we’re finally unlearning
And trading lies with heaven’s truth

I hear your song and I know that you are weary
I see the tears and I feel how hard you’ve cried
But in the morning when this night is finally over
We’ll rejoice as we dance in Heaven’s light
And stand together at the feet of Christ
Yes together we’ll stand before our Christ.

1 Peter 1:24-25  for “All flesh is like grass and all its glory like the flower of grass. The grass withers, and the flower falls,   but the word of the Lord remains forever.” And this word is the good news that was preached to you.

Wonderful! I love it. Is there a way that I can download it? If it costs money that’s ok. I would like to have it on my MP3 player for my car.

I’m not sure Bethany, but maybe JeffS will see this and he might know. Thanks.

Bethany- I’m glad it is an encouragement to you! I changed the settings that should allow you to download it. Let me know if you aren’t able to get it through the link. I can certainly send you a copy if all else fails.

JeffS, that was beautiful. And the words brought tears to my eyes. Thank you so much. I’m going to download it as well.

  3. All the words are great, but I especially love these lines
    “But now we’re finally unlearning
And trading lies with heaven’s truth”

Thanks for sharing it with us so generously, Jeff.

    (Airbrushing…)

    Quoted from Jeff S song
So you walked the path they showed you
    And you gave them everything

The Holy Spirit has led me to these two lines and I don’t know why…

(Bear with me while I write.)

The first few times I read the song, I kept reading “he”, not “they”. And I think I need to take the lines out of context, without reference to salvation. Perhaps the path was away from God?

(My anti-x was not a believer, though his mother hinted otherwise.)

    Acts 10:30-31 (NMB)

….And behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing, 31 and said, Cornelius, your prayer has been heard, and your alms-deeds are remembered in the sight of God.

The Holy Spirit leads me to these words and I remember….

….the times I was given words of wisdom and words of knowledge to speak. And my anti-x mocked me.

I was mocked when his physical pain departed. I was mocked by him when others validated as truth the words I spoke to them.

(God gave me the words, they were not mine.)

In those times I heard from God, I felt the peace of God.

My anti-x took that from me.

I still receive words of knowledge / words of wisdom, but I have no peace.

John 10:10 New Matthew Bible (NMB)

10 The thief comes not but to steal, kill, and destroy.

I am missing the last part…

John 10:10 New Matthew Bible (NMB)

10 ….I have come so that they may have life, and have it more abundantly.

    And now I know “Why?”
