A Cry For Justice

Awakening the Evangelical Church to Domestic Violence and Abuse in its Midst

Threats of God’s Wrath are Often Used to Silence Victims and Witnesses

“Therefore behold, I am against the prophets,” declares the LORD, “who steal My words from each other.”

Behold, I am against the prophets,” declares the LORD, “who use their tongues and declare, ‘The Lord declares.’ “

“Behold, I am against those who have prophesied false dreams,” declares the LORD, “and related them and led My people astray by their falsehoods and reckless boasting; yet I did not send them or command them, nor do they furnish this people the slightest benefit,” declares the LORD.
(Jer 23:30-32 NASB)

Trigger warning

“If you do not repent of saying those things about person x, God is going to remove His blessing from you. And if you keep doing this you should be very afraid because God does not approve of what you are doing.”

Have you ever been told something like that? I have. I read an instance of it just a few days back online when church members were threatening God’s wrath against a lady who was blowing the whistle on the abuse that victims of domestic abuse receive at the hands of that church. Of course, insert finger in throat here, they always end their threat of lightning from the heavens with something like, “I’m just saying this for your own good. I really love you.” Oh yeah.

There was wickedness in an organization our church once belonged to — that’s why we pulled out. But we didn’t leave quietly. We did some online whistle blowing. And guess what? Sure enough some of the big wheels sent the typical messages — “Now, God does not approve of what you have said about these wonderful, godly, brothers in the Lord. And if you don’t repent and admit you were wrong for saying such things, God is going to remove His blessing from you, from your church, and from your ministry.” The strange thing is that God hasn’t communicated His displeasure with us, and He is blessing us as never before!

These kinds of statements are nothing less than threats to silence truth-tellers. And they are particularly wicked in God’s sight because these people claim to speak with His authority when in fact He has not sent them at all. Same thing as in Jeremiah’s day as quoted above.

Man!  I love those verses!!

Happened to us when we went thru some abuse at the hands of other church members who were so “repentant” and said all the right things to the Pastors. They put it in writing….

    God has NOT sent them.
    They have appointed themselves..
But they would not dare to carry the same burden that they put apon the others .
Dont blow their cover,..or they will have to bring in the heavy artilery and threaten the wrath of God apon you..
Or is it the protection of God away from you?

As soon as I quit listening to these pious imposters for Christ, I started seeing right through them, and gained clarity and my life got much better..
Empty threats and twisted scriptures used against God’s beloved…for the purpose of keeping God’s people from becoming free in order to explore their “Full Potential in Christ”.
These same will make an account to our Lord someday.
This is what they are really afraid of.
I have become a bigger threat to evil – being able to contribute to its exposure, now that I am out- from under its unholy bondage.

1 Kings 22:24 Then Zedekiah son of Kenaanah walked up to Micaiah and slapped him across the face. “Since when did the Spirit of the Lord leave me to speak to you?” he demanded.

Micaiah stood against 400 prophets when Jehosophat and Ahab enquired of the Lord. Only Micaiah the prophet spoke the truth, and he was persecuted and punished for it. Even today, it is remarkable that the men who truly speak God’s truth, and represent Him honestly and courageously, are challenged, and persecuted by the majority of those claiming to represent God.

I’m grateful the straightforward message of those who choose to receive praise of God, and not of men. I’m also hopeful that those caught up in the collective thinking of the majority (since many are taught this way of thinking) will be encouraged to consider prayerfully, the opinions and convictions of those who have spent time seeking Him in His Word. “for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life” . . Thank you.
