by Ruth A Tucker.  Ruth recounts a harrowing story of abuse at the hands of her husband, a well-educated charming preacher no less, in hope that her story would help other women caught in a cycle of domestic violence and offer a balanced biblical approach to counter such abuse for pastors and counselors.

About a year and a half ago World Magazine had a short review on a book that was written for Christian youth who were feeling pressure from their churches, teachers, etc. to work hard at doing something extraordinary for God. The review mentioned that this was a subtle works-related belief that is very popular in today’s churches, though those putting on the pressure would not consider themselves work-based, but faith-based. I don’t recall the name of the book or the author, but I would love to get ahold of that book for my 17-year-old. Are you, by any chance, aware of a book that might fit this description? I’ve written to World Magazine and was told they could not find what I was looking for.

    • Hi Georgia, I haven’t heard of a book like that. I hope one or our readers can help out. I suggest you resubmit this comment, at our Prayer Requests page, and tick the little box so you get notified of any replies to your request. That page has a lot more people following it than this page. I shall aslo put your request on our Facebook page, so check for replies there as well.

    • Georgia, check here

I think one of our FB readers has given you an answer.

“Runaway Radical” is a book that sounds like what Georgia is looking for. I found the book very comforting. http://boz.religionnews.com/2015/02/20/radical-jesus-stories-dont-get-told/

    • Thanks Marie.
Readers: we’ve published the book Marie named without checking it out, because we trust that anything which comes from Boz Tjividjian is okay.

I’d like to clarify-it was NOT comforting what happened to Jonathan, but it was comforting that he began to heal himself and heal others (emotionally).
